Prince William Horticulture Therapy Program
Rainbow thrilled to have partnered with the Prince William Horticulture Therapy Program here at the farm for the last two years.
The Horticulture Therapy program brings together 8-10 adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities to garden at Rainbow. The goal of the Horticulture Therapy Program is to effectively utilize horticulture principles and practices to sow hope that restores the participants engagement in our community. Located at two garden plots at the Rainbow farm, participants practice plant care skills. These skills mirror those of their own self-care needs. Participants get to see, touch, smell, and taste the result of their active participation in the garden. This helps participants to understand how meaningful their contribution is.
Rainbow’s farm setting is the perfect home for this program. The natural beauty creates a great back drop for the gardens. And with plenty of space and sunlight, the Horticulture Therapy Program has been expanding and thriving at Rainbow!
