Farm Highlight - Jeffrey
“Rainbow is one of my favorite places to be. I feel happy at Rainbow. I feel that my instructors care about me. I love being with the horses. I feel that the horses love me.” - Jeffrey
The horses do love Jeffrey! Jeffrey is a very caring rider who truly thinks about the wellbeing of his horse and he takes a great interest in his horse’s health and happiness.
Jeffrey began riding at Rainbow about nine years ago when he was in high school. He came through an educational program set up through his high school and has continued to ride since. In these last nine years, Jeffrey has learned a lot from grooming and groundwork to riding. As a dedicated rider, Jeffery is working hard to improve his riding skills. He practices two point position and weaving cones as well as trotting and posting trot.
Trotting is not always easy on his favorite horse Mesa. Mesa is a large horse and Jeffrey’s instructor Scottie shares that sometimes it takes a lot of leg strength to keep Mesa trotting. But Jeffrey does well, he is “persistent as well as patient.”
The connection between himself and his horse is Jeffrey’s favorite part, “My favorite part [of riding] is when I communicate with my horse and she knows what I want to do.”
His also loves to give Mesa hugs, and we are sure that that is one of Mesa’s favorite parts of his lesson too!
It’s wonderful to see Jeffery take on new challenges and grow! Way to go Jeffery!
